Setting cusk ice fishing lines on Lake Winnipesaukee. This footage is from a few years ago but has never been shown on this channel before. Cusk, or freshwater cusk as it’s properly called, is a freshwater ling (I accidentally said “lingcod” which is a fish in Alaska and much bigger). Some people call it burbot but that may be more appropriate for the saltwater cusk. The largest saltwater cusk on record was caught of the coast of Norway and weighed 37lbs, so as you can guess the saltwater cusk is much larger than the freshwater cusk. Other names for this fish include eelpout, ling, lota lota, and lawyer fish.
